Magnitude-6.4 earthquake strikes island of Crete
A magnitude6.4 earthquake shook the Greek island of Crete on Saturday, though no information is yet available about any damage it might have caused.
According to the EuropeanMediterranean Seismological Center, the epicenter of the earthquake, which struck at 4:11 p.m. local time (1311 GMT), was at the sea bottom 64 kilometers (40 miles) west of the city of Chania, at a depth of 47 kilometers (29 miles).
The quake was felt throughout the Peloponnese from Sparta to Patras and in the Attica region south of Athens.
